On 7th of February 2025, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Ukraine, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to Ukraine, Antonio Gazzanti Pugliese di Cotrone, met with Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko.
During the meeting Ambassador Gazzanti Pugliese di Cotrone informed the Mayor of Kyiv about the humanitarian and social projects implemented by the Embassy in the Kyiv city, including those since the full-scale invasion.
In particular:
– long-term assistance to Kyiv Special Boarding School No. 8;
– purchase and arrangement of a playground ‘Jungle’ at the Kyiv City Centre for Social Support of Children and Families;
– funding for the complete reconstruction of the boiler room and upgrading of the fire alarm system at the same centre;
– donation of 20 laptops for orphans and children without parental care who live in the Kyiv City Social Dormitory;
– in cooperation with the Government Commissioner for People with Disabilities, 250 people with disabilities living in Kyiv received targeted assistance in the form of food packages;
– in cooperation with the NGO ‘Litay’, 80 children with disabilities from IDP families who live in Kyiv received gifts and humanitarian supplies;
– in cooperation with the office of the Commissioner for People with Disabilities of the Kyiv City State Administration, Mrs Lesya Petrivska, 100 children from 60 IDP families living in Kyiv received Christmas gifts;
– first aid courses were conducted by instructors from the Maltese Relief Service.
Ambassador assured the Mayor of Kyiv that the Order will continue to support the most needy segments of the Ukrainian population.
From his part, Vitali Klitschko thanked the Order of Malta for the humanitarian assistance provided to Ukraine and presented the Ambassador with an illustrated book about the capital of Ukraine in sign of his appreciation.
The possibility of implementing joint projects in 2025 were discussed.
