These days, a delegation of the Sovereign Order of Malta and Malteser International visited Lviv.
Representatives of the delegation met with the team of the Malteser Relief Service, discussed current humanitarian and social projects aimed at supporting Ukrainians affected by the war, and outlined ways of further cooperation.
“I have met a team of people who are highly motivated to resist evil, to seek good, and who have hope and love, who have an understanding of serving the needy, children and the elderly,” said Clemens Graf von Mirbach-Garff, Secretary General of Malteser International.
At the same time, Mr. Luca Aragone, Vice President of the Italian relief corps of the Order of Malta (CISOM) and member of the Board of Directors of Malteser International, stressed that “since the beginning of the war, all organisations of the Order of Malta in Italy have been supporting Order of Malta volunteers in Ukraine, providing them with help and support. We have done the same in neighbouring countries, supporting the activities of the Associations and Embassies of the Order of Malta that have stepped up to help refugees. It is necessary to continue this activity in the hope that peace will come soon“.
A separate point of the visit was a meeting with representatives of the Embassy of the Order of Malta in Ukraine, which was a good opportunity to “synchronise watches” on cooperation between different organisations of the Order.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Andriy Khanas, Counsellor of the Embassy, presented the Head of the Malteser Relief Service of Ukraine, Mr. Pavlo Titko, with a commemorative medal made by the Polish Association of the Order of Malta as a recognition of the assistance provided to Ukraine.
